MATCH PREVIEW – BRISTOL MANOR FARM v FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town will travel to Bristol Manor Farm when we return to Southern League action on Saturday, September 28th, 2024.

Bristol Manor Farm joined the what was then the Southern League Division 1 West (Division 1 West became Division 1 South in 2018) as Western League Premier Champions at the end of the 2016/17 season. They were promoted from the Western League Division 1 to the Western League Premier Division at the end of the 1982/83 season, the year we left the Western League, so this will be our first league encounter and our first ever visit to The Creek.

Falmouth Town and Bristol Manor Farm have met three times in cup competitions. In the 1986/87 FA Vase, we beat them 1-0 in the 1st Round at Bickland Park. The 2002/03 season saw us play Bristol Manor Farm twice at Bickland Park, once in the FA Cup Preliminary Round and once the FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round, resulting in a 2-0 victory and a 4-2 victory repectively.

We are currently tenth in the league table with seven points from four games, while Bristol Manor Farm are lying third in the table with ten points from five games.

Directions

  • Exit M5 at junction 18 (signposted Bristol). At the roundabout, take the second exit and follow the A4 towards Bristol and Bristol Airport. This will take you onto The Portway. Continue along this road for approximately 2 miles, turn left at the traffic lights for Sylvan Way (A4162) signposted Lawrence Weston and Westbury. Turn right at the at the next set of traffic lights onto Shirehampton Road. Then after 800 metres turn onto Sea Mills Lane (directly opposite the Mill House Pub). Follow this road which will take you to the Portway Bridge, go under the bridge and immediately turn left and follow the narrow road up to the Portway Road where you will turn left back onto The Portway. Once on The Portway and after 400 metres, you will see the Ground on the left. The entrance to the car park is just after the Bus Stop. Look for the ground sign and The Portway Rugby Development Centre which is in the same place.

CLUB STATEMENT – JAMES WARD LEAVES FALMOUTH TOWN

James Ward has decided to leave Falmouth Town. James has been a stalwart for the the club since he joined in 2018. Known to the fans as “Wardy”, he has captained the team and saw us through our journey from the South West Peninsula League to the Southern League. He has also been an instrumental player during our cup exploits over the last six years. Everyone at Falmouth Town would like to thank him for his service and we wish well in the future.

MOUSEHOLE 3-1 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town bowed out of the 2024/25 Isuzu FA Trophy after a 3-1 defeat today, at fellow Southern League side Mousehole. The only Town goal came from Cam Hutchison in the fourth minute. Despite some great football, Mousehole gained the upper hand and were worthy of their win. We would like to wish them the best of luck in the next round. FA TROPHY PREVIEW – MOUSEHOLE v FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town will travel to local Southern League rivals Mousehole, in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 – K.O. 3:00pm. Mousehole successfully overcame Bashley 4-0 on Tuesday, September 17th. The original fixture, which Mousehole lost 7-6 on penalties, was declared void by the FA.

We have played Mousehole many times over the years, both in the Western League and before that, in the South West Peninsula League. This will be our first encounter in Step 4 football. We advanced to this round with a 3-0 victory over Cinderford Town at Bickalnd Park on Saturday, September 7th. Our most recent league match saw us beat Thatcham Town 1-0 in a hard fought game.

Mousehole’s recent league form includes three wins over Evesham United, Cribbs & Malvern Town, with a 2-0 defeat at Helston Athletic.

This all Cornish encounter, which will ensure their is a Cornish side in the next round of the FA Trophy.

TOM FISHER – INJURY

Falmouth Town can confirm that Tom Fisher suffered a broken ankle in yesterday’s match against Thatcham Town at Bickland Park. Everyone at Falmouth Town sends him their best wishes and we hope he makes a speedy recovery. Thanks must also go to Thatcham Town who expressed their good wishes via Twitter.

Falmouth Town over came a very competitive Thatcham Town with a 1-0 victory at Bickland Park this afternoon, The only goal came from Rubin Wilson in the first half. UPDATE: We have been made aware that a number of FA Trophy results from the first qualifying round have been declared void by the FA and the games are to be replayed, among them is the match between Bashley & Mousehole. The replay will be on Tuesday, September 17th at Trungle Parc. We will update this page when we know who our opponents are.

The FA Trophy draw for the second qualifying round has taken place and we have been drawn away to fellow Southern League sides Mousehole or Bashley. The game will take place on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 – K.O. 3:00pm.
