NEW SIGNING – MARTYN DUFF JOINS FALMOUTH TOWN

FALMOUTH GET DUFFED UP – MARTYN JOINS THE TOWN!

Falmouth Town are pleased to confirm the signing of midfielder Martyn Duff.

Duff, re-joins from St Austell having played for the Lillywhites for the past 6 seasons, playing an integral part in their SWPL promotion season of 2023/24. Prior to St Austell Duff enjoyed a successful spell at Falmouth having won the Cornwall Senior Cup in the 2-1 win over Saltash United in 2019.

Duff becomes our first signing of the season.

“It just feels like the right decision to come back to Falmouth Town. It’s a massive club and I’ve got great memories of my first stint here with great teammates, people behind the scenes and the awesome F-Troop” Duff told falmouthtownafc.co.uk . “I want to be apart of that again and push myself and the club to achieve as much as we can”.

“Whoever I play for I’ll always give my all but I really feel I’ve developed a lot in the years I’ve been away. I’ve had the opportunity to play with and learn from some of the top players in Cornish Football and I feel I come back as a more well-rounded and mature player, capable of contributing in a range of positions”

“Great to have a player of Duffy’s stature back at the club”, first-team manager Andrew Westgarth said. “Having played for us before I know the qualities he can bring but definitely feel we have a better player then what we had at SWPL level for us. His professionalism will drive the group and will be a great addition”

Duff finished with “On a personal note, I want to push myself and see what I’m capable of in football. As a club, Falmouth Town has always been a club that has to be competing for and winning trophies. With all the recent success as well as the quality in the team, that has to be the aim once again this year. I hope to contribute to that in any way I can”.

Falmouth Town are proud to have been awarded the National Game Award for ‘the ‘The FSA Away Day Experience of the Year – 2024/25’, sponsored by Isuzu. The results are featured in this week’s Non-League Paper, and this is a fantastic accolade for all the people involved with our club. None of this would have been possible were it not for the volunteers who help on match days and behind the scenes. They are the unsung heros who give their time and put in a huge effort, such is their passion for their club.

The FSA Away Day Experience of the Year Award is voted on by members of the Football Supporters Association and recognises the work done by football clubs to ensure a memorable experience for visiting supporters. To be awarded this means a great deal to us, especially when you consider the number of non-league clubs and leagues in The National League System. We are extremely grateful to those who voted for us, and we hope more travelling supporters will visit us going forward on our football journey.

FALMOUTH TOWN 2-1 SHAFTESBURY

FALMOUTH TOWN 2-1 SHAFTESBURY

Falmouth Town finished off our first Southern League season with a 2-1 victory over Shaftesbury at Bickland Park after a manic week of football.

The kick off was delayed for two hours after Shaftesbury were delayed in traffic because of a serious road accident in Dorset. Thier late arrival didn’t seem to unsettle the visitors after they took the lead through Leighton Thomas on thirty-seven minutes. Shaftesbury held onto their lead and the first half finished 1-0 to the visitors.

Falmouth started the second half on the front foot and playing towards The Packet End, put the Shaftesbury goal under pressure. On forty-eight minutes Town’s pressure was rewarded when Rubin Wilson equalised to huge cheers from the Town fans. With both sides trying to find a winner, there was some entertaining and competitive play. It was Falmouth who broke the deadlock when Jack Bray-Evans found the back of the Shaftesbury net on seventy-seven minutes. Town held on for the remaining time to collect three hard earned points.

This result sees us finish ninth in the league table, which is a fantastic achievement at this level.

FALMOUTH TOWN 1-0 LARKHALL ATHLETIC

FALMOUTH TOWN 1-0 LARKHALL ATHLETIC

Falmouth Town chalked up another three points in tonight’s Southern League match at home to a well organised Larkhall Athletic.

The opening exchanges were a fairly even affair, with both sides creating chances. Town gradually increased the pressure on Larkhall’s goal and were rewarded in the thirty-seventh minute when Jack Webber found the back of the net. The rest of the first half ebbed and flowed. with Falmouth going in 1-0 up at the break.

The second half started lively with Larkhall mounting several attacks on Town’s goal. The Town defence was resolute and denied the visitors any real scoring chances. Falmouth made several substituions with Andreas Calleja-Stayne, Ryan Townson and sixteen year old Oliver Evans all making an appearance. The fresh legs allowed Town to once again press the Larkhall defence. Jack Bray-Evans was unlucky not to double Town’s score when his shot cannoned off the visitors crossbar. The game ended after some seven minutes of stoppage time, with the scoreline at 1-0.

The result leaves us eleventh in the league table with 55 points from 41 games. We now look forward to our home fixture with Shaftesbury on Saturday.

The performance was all the more impressive when you consider that some of the players had arrived home from Cinderford at 3:30am this morning, and credit must go to the reserve players who stepped up.

Man of the Match: Jack Webber.

CINDERFORD TOWN 2-3 FALMOUTH TOWN

CINDERFORD TOWN 2-3 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town came from 1-0 down to win 3-2 away to Cinderford Town in tonight’s Southern League encounter. Cinderford took the lead in the first minute through Noah Coates. The first half ended 1-0 to the hosts.

Falmouth equalised on fifty-five minutes through Bradley Leivers. The second of Falmouth’s goals came from Harrison Jewell in the seventy-fourth minute. Cinderford fought back and equalised in the eighty-eighth minutes through Alex Bonthron. You might have thought a draw was on the cards, but as the saying goes, you’re never more vulnerable than when you’ve just scored. So it was here, as Cam Hutchison grabbed a late winner in the ninety-first minute.

A great win and a great three points for a long mid-week journey to deepest Gloucestershire. We now go again tomorrow night (Thursday, April 24th) when we take on Larkhall Athletic at Bickland Park – K.O. 7:45pm.
