FALMOUTH TOWN 2-1 SHAFTESBURY
Falmouth Town finished off our first Southern League season with a 2-1 victory over Shaftesbury at Bickland Park after a manic week of football.
The kick off was delayed for two hours after Shaftesbury were delayed in traffic because of a serious road accident in Dorset. Thier late arrival didn’t seem to unsettle the visitors after they took the lead through Leighton Thomas on thirty-seven minutes. Shaftesbury held onto their lead and the first half finished 1-0 to the visitors.
Falmouth started the second half on the front foot and playing towards The Packet End, put the Shaftesbury goal under pressure. On forty-eight minutes Town’s pressure was rewarded when Rubin Wilson equalised to huge cheers from the Town fans. With both sides trying to find a winner, there was some entertaining and competitive play. It was Falmouth who broke the deadlock when Jack Bray-Evans found the back of the Shaftesbury net on seventy-seven minutes. Town held on for the remaining time to collect three hard earned points.
This result sees us finish ninth in the league table, which is a fantastic achievement at this level.
