FALMOUTH TOWN 5-3 NEWQUAY

Falmouth Town overcame a battling Newquay side in last night’s Cornwall Senior Cup game to run out 5-3 winners. Town took the lead after 5 minutes through Harrison Jewell, but Newquay were back level just 10 minutes later. Step up Rubin Wilson, who put Town ahead again after 25 minutes. Both teams played end to end football and went into the break with the score at 2-1 to Town.

Just four minutes after the startb of the second half, the Newquay keeper was called into action, making a spectacular double save from both Rubin Wilson and Luke Barner. It was Town who scored first when Andreas Calleja-Stayne put the ball in the back of the net after 51 minutes. Newquay, not to be out done, pulled one back just 3 minutes later. Bouyed by this, the vistors equalised on 65 minutes with a belter of a shot from the edge of the box. Town pressed hard again and were rewarded when Rubin Wilson headed in his second goal of the vening from a corner. With seven minutes of extra time to be played, it was going to be an exciting time. It was prolific goal scorer Oscar Massey who put the game out of Newqauy’s reach when took on a Newquay defender before unleashing a shot from the corner of the box, sending the ball flying onto the inside of the post and into the back of the net.

With the full time score at 5-3 to Town, we now go into the draw fro the quarter finals of the Cornwall Senior Cup. Man of the Match award went to Rubin Wilson.

We now look forward to hosting Cinderford Town in the Southern League at Bickland Park on Saturday, November 9th – K.O. 3:00pm.

CORNWALL SENIOR CUP – FALMOUTH TOWN v NEWQUAY

Falmouth Town will be looking to get back to winning ways when we host Newquay in the second round of the Cornwall Senior Cup at Bickland Park on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 – K.O. 7:45pm.

We progressed to this round after beating Saltash United 3-0 at the Kimberley Stadium back on October 1st. In this competition, we last played Newquay in the semi-final of the 2023/24 Cornwall Senior Cup at Blaise Park, when we ran out 4-2 winners. With this in mind, we can expect an exciting game under the lights at Bickland Park, so make sure you don’t miss out.

Falmouth Town are through to the Cornwall Senior Cup Final after a superb 4-2 win over Newquay at Blaise Park this evening. The Falmouth Town goals came from Luke Barner, Jacob Grange and Kian Thomas.

SHEPTON MALLET 2-0 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town fell to a 2-0 defeat at Shepton Mallet on Saturday after an intense week of football, where we played four games in eight days. This does not mean our season is over, far from it, we now turn to Cornwall Senior Cup semi-final action on Wednesday, April 26th, when we take on Newquay and our final league match at Bickland Park on Saturday, April 27th when we host Oldland Abbotonians. These will be followed by the potentially the two biggest games of our season, the Western League play-offs, where the prize is promototion to the Southern League. So plenty of football to enjoy!
