FALMOUTH TOWN 1-0 LARKHALL ATHLETIC

FALMOUTH TOWN 1-0 LARKHALL ATHLETIC

Falmouth Town chalked up another three points in tonight’s Southern League match at home to a well organised Larkhall Athletic.

The opening exchanges were a fairly even affair, with both sides creating chances. Town gradually increased the pressure on Larkhall’s goal and were rewarded in the thirty-seventh minute when Jack Webber found the back of the net. The rest of the first half ebbed and flowed. with Falmouth going in 1-0 up at the break.

The second half started lively with Larkhall mounting several attacks on Town’s goal. The Town defence was resolute and denied the visitors any real scoring chances. Falmouth made several substituions with Andreas Calleja-Stayne, Ryan Townson and sixteen year old Oliver Evans all making an appearance. The fresh legs allowed Town to once again press the Larkhall defence. Jack Bray-Evans was unlucky not to double Town’s score when his shot cannoned off the visitors crossbar. The game ended after some seven minutes of stoppage time, with the scoreline at 1-0.

The result leaves us eleventh in the league table with 55 points from 41 games. We now look forward to our home fixture with Shaftesbury on Saturday.

The performance was all the more impressive when you consider that some of the players had arrived home from Cinderford at 3:30am this morning, and credit must go to the reserve players who stepped up.

Man of the Match: Jack Webber.
