FALMOUTH TOWN 0-1 BISHOPS CLEEVE

Falmouth Town slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Bishops Cleeve in last night’s Southern League match. Town started lively with Luke Barner’s first shot on goal going narrowly wide. The game developed into a close fought battle with some real end to end action. On 39 minutes, Ned Symons beat three defenders to get into the Bishops Cleeve box, but was unable to get his shot away. Luke Barner let rip with a shot from the edge of the box on 41 minutes, only for it to go just wide of the post. With two added minutes, it Luke Barner who got third shot in, only to see the ball shave the wrong side of the post.

The second half got underway with Bishops Cleeve putting Town under some early pressure and creating chances. Around the hour mark Town manager Andy Westgarth made some substitutions with Bradley Leivers replacing Luke Brabyn and Jared Sims coming on for Ned Symons. Falmouth again attacked the the Bishops goal but unable to penetrate their defence. On the 75 minute mark, Andeas Calleja-Stayne made way for Jack Webber. There followed some more Bishops pressure on the Town goal, resulting in a chaotic goalmouth scramble. Bishop Cleeve’s Stephen Davies’s shot took several delections before rolling just over the line. Despite several Town attacks, including a Bradley Leivers header which was tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Lewis Clayton, denying Falmouth the equaliser. The game ended with four minutes of added time, with Bishops Cleeve taking all three points.

We now look forward to our next game away Exmouth Town on Saturday, April 12th – K.O. 3:00pm.
