FALMOUTH TOWN 2-1 SHAFTESBURY

FALMOUTH TOWN 2-1 SHAFTESBURY

Falmouth Town finished off our first Southern League season with a 2-1 victory over Shaftesbury at Bickland Park after a manic week of football.

The kick off was delayed for two hours after Shaftesbury were delayed in traffic because of a serious road accident in Dorset. Thier late arrival didn’t seem to unsettle the visitors after they took the lead through Leighton Thomas on thirty-seven minutes. Shaftesbury held onto their lead and the first half finished 1-0 to the visitors.

Falmouth started the second half on the front foot and playing towards The Packet End, put the Shaftesbury goal under pressure. On forty-eight minutes Town’s pressure was rewarded when Rubin Wilson equalised to huge cheers from the Town fans. With both sides trying to find a winner, there was some entertaining and competitive play. It was Falmouth who broke the deadlock when Jack Bray-Evans found the back of the Shaftesbury net on seventy-seven minutes. Town held on for the remaining time to collect three hard earned points.

This result sees us finish ninth in the league table, which is a fantastic achievement at this level.

FALMOUTH TOWN 1-1 BRISTOL MANOR FARM

FALMOUTH TOWN 1-1 BRISTOL MANOR FARM

Falmouth Town gained a hard earned point this afternoon against a well organised Bristol Manor Farm. Town opened with some early pressure on the visitors goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. However, on twenty-four minutes Oliver Evans broke the deadlock with a superb strike. What a way to mark his first start in the Southern League team, at just sixteen years old. After some competitive end to end play, the first half finished 1-0 to Town.

The second half began with both sides battling hard, which lead to Bristol Manor Farm putting the Town goal under pressure. Ten minutes in, Owen Howe picked up a loose ball and hammered home to make it 1-1. With both sides now trying to find the winning goal, Rubin Wilson was brought down on the edge of the vistors box by Bristol’s goalkeeper Louis Smith, for which he was shown a red card. Despite being down to ten men, Bristol Manor Farm held on for the remaining twenty minutes and the points were shared.

We now look forward to our Easter Monday trip to Mousehole.

EXMOUTH TOWN 3-0 FALMOUTH TOWN

EXMOUTH TOWN 3-0 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town went 1-0 down after just seven minutes to a Torr Swann goal. Despite Town’s efforts, we were unable to find the back of the net. On twenty-five minutes the Exmouth goalkeeper brought Rubin Wilson down in the box, but the referee waved any appeals away. Rubin Wilson was agian brought down by a defender on forty minutes, but the referee was having none of it. The first half ended 1-0 to Exmouth Town.

The second half had only been going for two minutes when Exmouth added a second goal to their tally, through Ben Steer. On the hour, Exmouth’s Luke Steer effectively finished the game off with Exmouth’s third goal of the afternoon. The game ended after four added minutes with the hosts taking all three points.

We now look to our next Southern League game on Tuesday, when we’re home to Larkhall Athletic.

BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS 0-1 FALMOUTH TOWN

BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS 0-1 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town came home with all three points this afternoon following a fantastic 1-0 win away to high flying Bemerton Heath Harlequins in the Southern League. In a game which Falmouth controlled for long periods, it was Rubin Wilson’s 85′ goal which sealed the result. Today’s win means we climb one place to thirteenth in the league table with 47 points from 35 games.

We now look forward to Tuesday, April 8th, when we welcome Bishops Cleeve to Bickland Park – K.O. 7:45pm.

FALMOUTH TOWN 0-1 MELKSHAM TOWN

FALMOUTH TOWN 0-1 MELKSHAM TOWN

Falmouth Town slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat in a very even Southern Leauge encounter, where it was visitors Melksham Town who emerged victorious with a goal in the last couple of minutes being the difference between the two sides.

Falmouth were on top in the first half with some great build-up play and on 30 minutes, a mistake at the back from Melksham let in Falmouth’s Luke Barner. Carrying the ball from near the halfway line, and with only the keeper to beat, he lifted his effort over the bar and the half finished goal-less.

The 2nd half saw a bit more pressure from Melksham but it looked like Falmouth would hold on, only for them to concede a free kick from outside the box. A fierce strike from Jake Andrews resisted a hand from Morgan Coxhead in the Falmouth goal and flew into the top corner to seal the win for Melksham, when a draw would have been the fairer result.

We go again on Tuesday, April 1st, when we enterain Westbury United – K.O. 7:45pm.

WESTBURY UNITED 2-1 FALMOUTH TOWN

WESTBURY UNITED 2-1 FALMOUTH TOWN

It was Westbury United who went ahead with a Ben Starr goal after 20 minutes. Town were not to be outdone and Rubin Wilson levelled the score at 26 minutes from the penalty spot. The first half ended 1-1.

Neither side seemed able to break the deadlock during the second half until Westbury’s Ben Starr scored his second goal of the day 15 minutes from the final whistle. So it’s Westbury who take the three points in today’s Southern League match.

We now turn our attention to our home fixture to Malvern Town on Tuesday, March 25th – K.O. 7:45pm.

FALMOUTH TOWN 1-2 EVESHAM UNITED

FALMOUTH TOWN 1-2 EVESHAM UNITED

Falmouth Town went down to a 2-1 home defeat to a very good Evesham United in the Southern League this afternoon. After an even first 20 minutes it was Evesham who took the lead on 21 minutes with a cross from the left finding Levi Steele who guided it just out of reach of keeper Falmouth’s Morgan Coxhead.

On 31 minutes Eveham went further ahead from a Levi Steele penalty after Harrison Jewell foul. The penalty was hit low to Coxhead’s right despite him getting a hand to it.

It was looking like a difficult afternoon for Falmouth but in the 34th minute, a rare attack ended in Luke Barner driving into the box and being brought down. Top scorer Rubin Wilson stepped up and hammered it past the keeper’s left to make it 2-1.

In the second half, Falmouth were the better side with lots of corners won, but Evesham defended well and despite constant pressure, the away side held out for an important victory in their bid for promotion.
