FALMOUTH TOWN 1-2 EVESHAM UNITED

Falmouth Town went down to a 2-1 home defeat to a very good Evesham United in the Southern League this afternoon. After an even first 20 minutes it was Evesham who took the lead on 21 minutes with a cross from the left finding Levi Steele who guided it just out of reach of keeper Falmouth’s Morgan Coxhead.

On 31 minutes Eveham went further ahead from a Levi Steele penalty after Harrison Jewell foul. The penalty was hit low to Coxhead’s right despite him getting a hand to it.

It was looking like a difficult afternoon for Falmouth but in the 34th minute, a rare attack ended in Luke Barner driving into the box and being brought down. Top scorer Rubin Wilson stepped up and hammered it past the keeper’s left to make it 2-1.

In the second half, Falmouth were the better side with lots of corners won, but Evesham defended well and despite constant pressure, the away side held out for an important victory in their bid for promotion.
