FALMOUTH TOWN 2-2 MALVERN TOWN

FALMOUTH TOWN 2-2 MALVERN TOWN

Falmouth Town gained a very well earned point tonight in our Southern League match against a well organised Malvern Town.

The first half was a fairly even affair with both sides probing each others goal but not taking their chances. After a scrappy first forty-five minutes, the teams went in at the break with the score at 0-0.

The second half started lively with both teams creating chances, but it was Malvern who broke the deadlock on 48 minutes with a Sam Clark header from a corner. With the score at 1-0, Malvern began to assert their authority. Town kept battling and Rubin Wilson made a couple of threatening moves into the Malvern box, but to no avail. On 81 minutes, Luke Payne looked to have secured the three points for Malvern when he scored a superb goal. However, there were more twists in this tale, and it was Town’s Luke Barner who was on form to grab one back just three minutes later. With the score at 2-1 to the visitors and the game into injury time, it was the turn of Andreas Calleja-Stayne to get on the score sheet and secure a valuable point for Falmouth.
