FALMOUTH TOWN 0-1 CINDERFORD TOWN

Falmouth Town fell to a defeat, as bottom club Cinderford Town emerged the winners in this mostly even clash at Bickland Park. No clear chances were created for either side until 22 minutes when Alex Knight missed a very good headed opportunity from in front of goal. Within a minute Falmouth’s Luke Barner missed with an overhead kick from an Oscar Massey cross. Massey was booked on 34 minutes for simulation when he appeared to have been barged off the ball in the box, with the crowd baying for a penalty. On 36 minutes, two balls over the top of the Falmouth defence were both not capitalised upon by Cinderford’s Alex Bonthron although Falmouth Keeper Morgan Coxhead came off his line well both times to unsettle the forward. The half finished with a Massey run at the visiting defence but his powerful shot cleared the bar and it was 0-0 at the break.

Nineteen minutes into the second half, and Cinderford’s Joshua Jones hit the bar from a speculative shot. With the game looking like a 0-0 draw, Cinderford struck the killer blow 10 minutes from time when Bonthron rose at the far post to head in after a great cross from the right touch-line. Falmouth made some changes but Cinderford survived and recorded a great win to aid their survival chances.

FALMOUTH TOWN 5-3 NEWQUAY

Falmouth Town overcame a battling Newquay side in last night’s Cornwall Senior Cup game to run out 5-3 winners. Town took the lead after 5 minutes through Harrison Jewell, but Newquay were back level just 10 minutes later. Step up Rubin Wilson, who put Town ahead again after 25 minutes. Both teams played end to end football and went into the break with the score at 2-1 to Town.

Just four minutes after the startb of the second half, the Newquay keeper was called into action, making a spectacular double save from both Rubin Wilson and Luke Barner. It was Town who scored first when Andreas Calleja-Stayne put the ball in the back of the net after 51 minutes. Newquay, not to be out done, pulled one back just 3 minutes later. Bouyed by this, the vistors equalised on 65 minutes with a belter of a shot from the edge of the box. Town pressed hard again and were rewarded when Rubin Wilson headed in his second goal of the vening from a corner. With seven minutes of extra time to be played, it was going to be an exciting time. It was prolific goal scorer Oscar Massey who put the game out of Newqauy’s reach when took on a Newquay defender before unleashing a shot from the corner of the box, sending the ball flying onto the inside of the post and into the back of the net.

With the full time score at 5-3 to Town, we now go into the draw fro the quarter finals of the Cornwall Senior Cup. Man of the Match award went to Rubin Wilson.

We now look forward to hosting Cinderford Town in the Southern League at Bickland Park on Saturday, November 9th – K.O. 3:00pm.

FALMOUTH TOWN 2-3 YATE TOWN

Table Toppers Yate Town won this close encounter with the odd goal in five having trailed twice in this Southern League encounter.

Kian Thomas opened the scoring for the home team on 7 minutes courtesy of a cross from Luke Barner. Yate then started to dominate and equalised 17 minutes later from James Byrne. However Falmouth went ahead again after 32 minutes, Thomas holding the ball up well before the ball was diverted to Luke Barner and the half finished at 2-1.

Yate upped their game again in the 2nd half and within 13 minutes they were level courtesy of a wicked deflection from a Will Christopher effort. Yate were not finished and took the lead on 76 minutes through Ross Stearn after a great chance for Falmouth’s Oscar Massey was not converted.

In the 6th minute of injury time, a free kick was won by Falmouth substitute Marcello Jones wide on the right. Tom Annear found Jones from the restart who hit a fierce shot from just inside the box against the Yate crossbar and Yate survived to register a hard fought victory in front of the large home support.

HELSTON ATHLETIC 2-1 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town and Helston Athletic battled it out for the full ninety minutes in front of big crowd of around six-hundred, in the this Southern League local derby. Helston took the lead just after the break through Aaron Bentley. Luke Barner equalised for Town just seven minutes later, before Jacob Smith restored Helston’s lead two minutes after that. BISHOPS CLEEVE 1-0 FALMOUTH TOWN

BISHOPS CLEEVE 1-0 FALMOUTH TOWN

Bishops Ceeve and Falmouth Town battled it out for nearly eighty minutes before Ethan Dunbar put the home side ahead. One goal was enough to settle this Southern League game. We hope to have a full match report here soon.

FALMOUTH TOWN 2-2 BIDEFORD AFC

FALMOUTH TOWN 2-2 BIDEFORD AFC

Falmouth Town and Bideford AFC shared the points last night after the game at Bickland Park ended in a two all draw. The first goal came after just six minutes, with Bideford’s Archie Reay finding the back of the net. Town fought back hard and it was Luke Barner who levelled the the score just before the break.

The second half started lively with both sides playing some good football. It was Oscar Massey who broke the deadlock with a strike on eighty minutes, which sent the home crowd into rapturous celebrations. However, there was one more twist when Bideford’s Aaron Taylor scored from close range into the corner of the net in the 87th minute.

We now look forward to our trip to Bishops Cleeve on Saturday, October 26th as we continue our Southern League campaign.

FALMOUTH TOWN 0-3 BASHLEY

FALMOUTH TOWN 0-3 BASHLEY

Falmouth Town could not maintain their excellent home record in their first season at this level with a loss against visitors Bashley having already suffered a 2-1 loss away to them earlier in the season. Unfortunately Falmouth conceded in the 3rd minute when Bashley captain Stephen Walker rose at the far post from a free-kick and headed it low to Morgan Coxhead’s left and just inside the post. On 28 minutes, Bashley went further ahead with Walker scoring another header, this time from a corner from the left. Bashley scored again in the 3rd minute of injury time from Wagstaffe after a defensive error to make it 3-0 at half-time.
Bashley went down to 10 men after 28 minutes of the secondnd-half with Connor Whitely being punished after a strike to the head of Town captain Tom Annear. A further red card was brandished in added time with a Bashley substitute again felling Annear with a late challenge resulting in a further head injury but the score remained at 3-0 and Bashley look contenders for the play-offs. We go again this coming Tuesday when we entertain Bideford, more details soon.

SHAFTESBURY 0-2 FALMOUTH TOWN

SHAFTESBURY 0-2 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town came away from Shaftesbury with all three points after a great 2-0 win. Both goals came from Oscar Massey, which eared him the Man of the Match award. You can read an excellent report from this game by CLICKING HERE.

CORNWALL SENIOR CUP 2nd ROUND DRAW

Falmouth Town have been given a home draw in the Cornwall Senior Cup 2nd round draw. We will be home to Newquay on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 – K.O. 7:30pm. This will be the first time we have played Newquay since the semi-final of last years Cornwall Senior Cup competition, when we ran out 4-2 winners.
