YATE TOWN 2-1 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town slipped to their first Southern League defeat in 2025, losing 2-1 away to league leaders Yate Town. It was a closely fought encounter where Yate took a 1-0 lead on 4 minutes through Wayne Nderemani. Before the break there was on e further piece of action when Morgan Coxhead saved a penalty in in injury time.

The second half saw the the two sides battle it out on the field, but it was Yate who extended their lead through King Baidoo on 58 minutes. Falmouth continued to press Yate and it was Jack Webber who scored for Falmouth in the 96th minute, but it was not enough and the match finished 2-1 to Yate Town.

Table Toppers Yate Town won this close encounter with the odd goal in five having trailed twice in this Southern League encounter.

Kian Thomas opened the scoring for the home team on 7 minutes courtesy of a cross from Luke Barner. Yate then started to dominate and equalised 17 minutes later from James Byrne. However Falmouth went ahead again after 32 minutes, Thomas holding the ball up well before the ball was diverted to Luke Barner and the half finished at 2-1.

Yate upped their game again in the 2nd half and within 13 minutes they were level courtesy of a wicked deflection from a Will Christopher effort. Yate were not finished and took the lead on 76 minutes through Ross Stearn after a great chance for Falmouth’s Oscar Massey was not converted.

In the 6th minute of injury time, a free kick was won by Falmouth substitute Marcello Jones wide on the right. Tom Annear found Jones from the restart who hit a fierce shot from just inside the box against the Yate crossbar and Yate survived to register a hard fought victory in front of the large home support.
