MATCH PREVIEW – FALMOUTH TOWN v TAVISTOCK AFC

Falmouth Town will begin our Southern League campaign when we host Tavistock AFC at Bickland Park on Tuesday, August 13th – K.O. 7:45pm.

Tavistock are of course no strangers to us, as we spent many years playing each other in the old South Western League and the Southwest Peninsula League. Tavistock were promoted to the Western League in 2019 and subsequently to the Southern League at the end of the 2021/22 season. So it will be great renew old aquaintances in the 2024/25 season.

This will be our first ever Southern League game, so not something you will want to miss. Let’s have a big crowd at Bickland Park and extend a warm welcome to our visitors. CLICK HERE for all the match day information.

FA CUP PREVIEW – FALMOUTH TOWN v TORPOINT ATHLETIC

FA CUP PREVIEW – FALMOUTH TOWN v TORPOINT ATHLETIC

Falmouth Town will be in FA Cup action when we take on Torpoint Athletic of the The Western League at Bickland Park on Saturday, August 3rd – K.O. 3:00pm. This will be our first competitive match as a Southern League club, while Torpoint Athletic will no doubt, be looking for a scalp. Both clubs have seen changes in personel with some players leaving and new signings.

Our new signings this year include Kai Cornish, Harrison Jewell and Andy Elcock, while Rubin Wilson and Oscar Massey are both eligible to play for us in this season’s FA Cup. Torpoint have made several new signings through the summer, including Goalkeeper Lloyd Marshall (ex Torquay United Youth & F.C. United of Manchester), plus Harry Jeffery and Harvey Mullis from Liskeard Athletic.

PREVIEW – FALMOUTH TOWN v TRURO CITY

Falmouth Town will entertain Truro City at Bickland Park on Tuesday, July 30th – K.O. 7:45pm. You can be sure this will be no ordinary pre-season friendly though, as we will be playing for the Aubrey Wilkes Trophy. This trophy was traditionally awarded to the winners of the Boxing Day derby, when both clubs were in the same league of course. Now we’re in the Southern League Div1 South and Truro City are in the National League South, that doesn’t happen. So this is the match which will allow one of us to lift the first silverware of the season. Let’s get a big crowd at Bickland Park to cheer on the mighty Town against our local rivals, Truro City!

MATCH PREVIEW – CORNWALL SENIOR CUP FINAL

CORNWALL SENIOR CUP FINAL

Falmouth Town will take on AFC St Austell in the Ward Williams – Cornwall Senior Cup Final at Wendron F.C. on Sunday, May 12th – K.O. 4:00pm. This match will be exciting clash between two promoted clubs. St Austell have had a successful South West Peninsula League campaign, which sees them promoted to the Toolstation Western League as champions. We of course have secured promotion to the Pitching In Southern League by winning the Western League Premier Division playoffs. This is our third appearance in the Cornwall Senior Cup Final in five seasons and will be our last chance to win it, as current rules mean that clubs from Step 4 and above are not eligable to enter. This is one game you won’t want to miss!

Falmouth Town will host Clevedon Town at Bickland Park in the Toolstation Western League Playoff Final on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 – K.O. 3:00pm. A win will see us gain promotion to the Southern League. This promises to be an exciting contest between two of Western League’s top clubs. We progressed to the final by beating Barnstaple Town 3-1, while Clevedon Town beat Bridgwater United 1-0 in their semi-final on Tuesday, April 30th. This is a historic event, and one you won’t want to miss. All roads lead to Bickland Park!

Falmouth Town will host Barnstaple Town in the Toolstation Western League playoff semi-final at Bickland Park on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 – K.O. 7:45pm. A win will see us entertain either Bridgwater United or Clevedon Town in the playoff final at Bickland Park on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 – K.O. 3:00pm. This the first time we have been in league playoffs and the prize at stake is promotion to the Southern League. We can expect an exciting and competitive game, so make sure you don’t miss out on this historic occasion. All roads lead to Bickland Park.

Falmouth Town will welcome Oldland Abbotonians to Bickland Park on Saturday, April 27th for what will be our last league fixture for the 2023/24 season. Our last match at Oldland ended in a 1-1 draw, so we’ll looking for the win this time and the three points. We go into this game on the back of our 4-2 victory over Newquay on Wednesday, April 24th in the Cornwall Senior Cup semi-final at Blaise Park. We now look forward to the league play-offs and the big prize of promotion to the Southern League. We hope to see a big crowd at Bickland Park to support the team. Falmouth Town will be in Cornwall Senior Cup semi-final action on Wednesday, April 24th when we take on Newquay at Blaise Park, St Blazey, K.O. – 7:30pm. While both teams come into this game on the back of some intense periods of football due to weather related postponements, both teams will be playing to advance to the final and win some silver ware. This promises to be an exciting contest between to high flying teams in their respective leagues. Falmouth Town will continue our Toolstation Western League title challenge when we visit Shepton Mallet on Saturday, April 20th, 2024. We go into this game looking for the win to ensure we keep the pressure on the league leaders. Our last match against Helston Athletic unfortunately ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat, so we’ll be looking to bounce back in this game. We have had a series of impressive victories against Welton Rovers, Ilfracombe Town and Clevedon Town. Shepton Mallet have had some good results recently against Torpoint Athletic and Oldland Abbotonians, over whom they completed a league double. We go again!
