FALMOUTH TOWN 3-0 CINDERFORD TOWN

FALMOUTH TOWN 3-0 CINDERFORD TOWN

Falmouth Town overcame our fellow Southern League Div1(S) opponents Cinderford Town in front of a large crowd this afternoon in their first FA Trophy game since 1981. Cinderford Town started strongly causing problems for the Falmouth defence. However, a first half goal against the run of play on the stroke of half-time by Luke Brabyn sent Falmouth in at the break at 1-0 up. A further goal from Rubin Wilson after a defensive slip made it 2-0 part way through the second half and another last-minute goal on 91 minutes from Oscar Massey, saw us into the next round. We now await the draw for the next round on Monday afternoon. To read the excellent match report CLICK HERE.

FA TROPHY PREVIEW – FALMOUTH TOWN v CINDERFORD TOWN

FA TROPHY PREVIEW – FALMOUTH TOWN v CINDERFORD TOWN

Falmouth Town will host Cinderford Town on Saturday, September 7th in our first FA Trophy game. Like us, Cinderford Town gained promotion to the Southern League last season, their route was through the Hellenic League play-offs after one season at Step 5. This will be the first time we have been involved in the FA Trophy since the 1980/81 season. Our opponenents in those competitions have included Bath City, Weymouth and Yeovil Town. Our best run was in the 1977/78 competition, and saw us reach the second round, when we were defeated by Hendon. Due to Cinderford Town’s more recent Southern League status, their most recent appearance in the competition was in the 2022/23 season. Cinderford Town’s previous opponents have included Gloucester City, Truro City and Gravesend & Northfleet (later Ebbsfleet United). Cinderford’s best peformances in the FA Trophy have seen them reach the second round on no less than three occasions.

We can expect a challenging and exciting match with everything to play for. So let’s get a big crowd at Bickland Park for this game and give Cinderford Town a huge Cornish welcome.
