FALMOUTH TOWN 4-1 DIDCOT TOWN

FALMOUTH TOWN 4-1 DIDCOT TOWN

Falmouth Town made it four wins from four in this one-sided Southern League encounter against mid-table Didcot Town at a wet and windy Bickland Park.

Falmouth dominated from the start but had to wait until 22 minutes to take the lead. It was in-form striker Rubin Wilson who scored his 5th goal in four games, shrugging off his defender before steering the ball inside the post past Didcot keeper Bedwell.

Didcot equalised on 27 minutes from a rare attack when new signing  Dan Warre capitalised on a defensive mistake.

However, the home side deservedly went in at half-time leading after Luke Barner found Olly Walker at the far post to smash the ball past Bedwell.

The second half started in similar fashion with Falmouth dictating the play, They finally put the game to bed after goals from Jared Sims  after 83 minutes and Luke Barner at the 90 minute mark with the pitch almost unplayable.

Star Man:  Luke Barner (Falmouth Town)

Thanks must go to the ground staff and volunteers, whose work yesterday made it possible for the game to go ahead today.

DIDCOT TOWN 3-2 FALMOUTH TOWN

Falmouth Town returned home empty handed after the 519 mile round trip to Didcot Town on Tuesday, November 12th. It started well for Falmouth who went ahead in the 16th minute through Bradley Leivers, after some great attacking play. However the lead lasted only two minutes before Didcot found an equaliser through Jenson Wright. Bouyed by this, the hosts took the lead through Luke Carnell on 26 minutes from a corner. Falmouth Town continued to press forward, with Falmouth denied by two clearances and a third shot hitting the top of the crossbar. The half ended 2-1 to the hosts, but not before the Didcot No:10, Jenson Wright earned a yellow card for fouling Oscar Massey.

The second half started with Falmouth enjoying some sustained possession, but were unable to break down Didcot’s defence. This was followed by some end to end football with both teams having chances. Falmouth made a double substituion with Jarod Sims & Luke Barner making way for Cam Hutchison & Olly Walker. It was on 83 minutes, when Olly Walker got on the end of a long pass, to set up Oscar Massey for the equaliser. Another substitution saw Rubin Wilson come on for Luke Brabyn. In the last minutes of normal time, Falmouth earned a free kick about 25 yards out, but Andy Elcock’s shot was denied by the croosbar. It was in the second minute of injury time when Jenson Wright got into the box and finished low under our keeper to win the match. The ‘Man of the Match’ award goes to Luke Brabyn.

We now turn our attention to Saturday, when we travel to Cribbs in Bristol, in search of those three points.

Thanks to Rock & Sean for the updates.
