FALMOUTH TOWN 3-2 HELSTON ATHLETIC (CSC S/F)

Falmouth Town booked a place in this year’s Cornwall Senior Cup final, when we over came local rivals Helston Athletic 3-2 in last night’s semi-final at Wendron United F.C. in front of a crowd of 540.

Two first half goals from Luke Barner and Bradley Leivers saw Falmouth ahead at the break, in a game in which both teams had chances. Early in the second half Falmouth were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box. Rubin Wilson stepped up and beat Helston keeper Ben Whiting to make it 3-0. Helston Athletic now came back at Town and scored from a corner through Callum O’Brien. With the score at 3-1, Falmouth were soaking up pressure from Helston. Helston were themselves awarded a penalty for a handball incident. It was Jordan Copp who scored and made the score 3-2. The rest of the the game saw both sides with chances, but no further goals.

We now await the result of tonight’s semi-fianl between Mousehole and St Austell to find out who our opponents will be in the final. Thanks must also go to Wendron United for the excellent way the hosted the semi-final.
