Falmouth Town will be hoping their fine form continues when they visit Wellington in the Western League on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Andrew Westgarth’s side are without a defeat in their last eight league games, but two successive weather-related postponements have prevented them from extending that run.
A win at The Playing Field on Saturday could see Town move above local rivals Helston Athletic into seventh, while Wellington could close the gap on 16th-placed Welton Rovers to two points if they emerge victorious.
The two teams met at Bickland Park on the opening day of the season, with former Town forward Jack Bray-Evans scoring twice to rescue a 2-2 draw in Town’s first Western League game since 1983.
Opposition view
Wellington have consistently been Western League members since 1978, with their current Premier Division spell beginning in 2017 after the Tangerines won the Division One title.
Last season’s 14th-place finish was the highest the Somerset outfit have finished in this spell, but currently find themselves third from bottom in the 19-team division having won three of their 17 league games to date.
While Town are unbeaten in the league since the start of October, Wellington have won just one of their eight games in that time, although they did pull off an excellent 4-2 victory at Bridgwater United in the Les Phillips Cup.
Wellington have scored 43 goals in all competitions this season, with Jake Quick leading the way with 13 strikes in 19 games, while Sam Towler is next with eight goals this term.
